About The Role

As a HR specialist at New Zealand’s only aluminium smelter, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive human resource support to leaders and employees within our organisation. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the fair and consistent application of Human Resources (HR) policies, procedures, and processes, while also offering guidance to enhance leader effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

• In this role, you will provide HR support to leaders, and employees at NZAS.
• This includes assisting in the implementation of HR programs and policies, ensuring they align with organisational objectives and legislative requirements.
• You will also support leaders and HR colleagues across Pacific Aluminium operations in projects and recurring annual activities such as salary review, talent review, learning and development.
• Additionally, you’ll advise on HR procedures, employee and industrial relations, performance, and regulatory issues.
• Offering coaching to leaders to enhance workplace relationships and increase skill levels in employee management is another essential aspect of this role.
• You’ll develop skills through providing advice, support, and coaching in the use of HR systems, performance management and employee engagement techniques.
• Conducting investigations into breaches of policy and procedure, ensuring fair and consistent resolution, will also be part of your responsibilities.
• Moreover, you’ll have the opportunity to lead special projects and initiatives aimed at improving employee engagement, performance, and retention, as well as identifying opportunities for improvement in HR processes and contribute to their implementation.

What You’ll Bring

• Generalist HR advisory experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• A strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and processes including significant experience in case management and applying New Zealand legislation.
• Expert stakeholder management skills with proven experience in successfully coaching and influencing leaders.
• Proficient communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
• Aptitude in HR systems and tools is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable using HR information systems platforms and other relevant software to manage employee data, generate reports, and provide training and support to others as needed.
