We are currently seeking experienced Machine Learning* Developers* to join our Visual Effects studio in Adelaide, Australia.

Employment periods: Long term contract.
Location: Adelaide, Australia. Open to Australian and international applicants.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Research and Development Supervisor, you will be responsible for creating and delivering machine learning capabilities to meet creative, visual, efficiency and technical goals. Capabilities will address aspects of,

• Workflow improvements
• Capability expansion
• Creative tasks that utilise machine learning to contribute directly to the creation of on-screen visual effects.

Essentially any area of the studio that can benefit from machine learning is within scope of this role, giving you freedom to explore, propose and drive innovation.

Knowledge in the use and application of TensorFlow and/or PyTorch is crucial when considering this role.

You are required to work collaboratively with staff across many disciplines including the research team, software development team and artistic departments. You are a great communicator who is able to discuss with stakeholders to gain an understanding of current capabilities and workflows and ultimately use your knowledge of machine learning to be able to devise techniques and technology that can help improve, adapt or expand current capability.

You have excellent time management skills and are a forward thinker who can deliver products to schedule and to brief. Your ability to own your work from concept to product delivery will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Create and deliver machine learning software and workflows that meet creative and/or technical objectives, while always maintaining appropriate standards and best practices.
• Maintain knowledge of current state of machine learning based approaches and technology.
• Work with key stakeholders to appropriately scope projects prior to implementation and to develop proof of concepts, or prototypes, as required.
• Improve the integration of the machine learning capabilities within the studio
• Appropriately design, implement, maintain, test and document all applications, utilities or components developed.
• Own machine learning projects as assigned or agreed to by your manager.
• Drive projects you are responsible for towards completion. Proactively follow up on outstanding items, changing requirements and blockers to ensure that constant progress is made.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3+ years of development work in Machine Learning
• Expert knowledge of machine learning techniques and toolsets such as TensorFlow and/or PyTorch
• Good knowledge of python software development
• Expert organisational skills, maintaining a calm and professional demeanour in a delivery focused work environment.
• Technical and creative problem solving with a can-do mindset.
• Working knowledge of the VFX pipeline will be advantageous but not necessary.
