Reporting to the Director of Athletics and the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, this position is primarily responsible for sprints but will be assisting in all facets of our track & field program. In addition to track and field technique/tactics teaching/coaching, duties include development of student-athletes and student athlete recruitment. This is a 10-month position. Key Responsibilities: • Participates in our efforts to recruit qualified student-athletes for the track and field program. • Identify and recruit qualified student-athletes for the track and field program • As an integral member of the track and field staff, help the Track and Field staff meet the annual institutional goal per number of deposits. • Assists the head coach in the college’s efforts to foster the athletic development of student-athletes within the track and field program. • Individual and group event coaching • Assists the head track and field coach in the college’s efforts to foster the academic success of student-athletes within track and field program. • Meets with student-athletes individually to insure academic accountability • Provides counsel to help student-athletes navigate the rigors of collegiate academic work • Develops and articulates a working knowledge of on and on campus support services available • Assists the head coach in the college’s efforts to foster the personal growth of student-athletes within the track & field program. • Develops and articulates a working knowledge of on and on campus student-health support services available • Meets with student-athletes on an as needed basis • Assists the head coach in executing an active college community relations program leading to the positive promotion of the field hockey program and its student athletes. • Represents the Department and Student Affairs Division in the College Community, developing relationships conducive to program and departmental success. • Serves as a manager for selected athletic events. • Carries out other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities: • Bachelor’s degree required. • One to three years of track and field participation or coaching experience at an NCAA sponsored institution. • Member of the U.S Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. • CPR certified preferred.
