Description Robert Half has a career-building opportunity for a Staff Accountant with experience and skill to join a renowned Import/Export company on a full-time basis. In this role, the Staff Accountant is in charge of preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. Throughout the monthly close, you will also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. Also, you will take part in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This intricate position is involved in the production of Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Responsibilities
Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
In-depth knowledge of reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Assist with the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Maintain intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Contribute to the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Manage depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request Requirements – Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Proven analytical skills – defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions

Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Skills in Monthly Sales Tax
Proven knowledge of Month-end Journal Entries
Journal Entry Preparation experience highly desired
General familiarity with Quarter-end
Wide ranging experience with Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
Well-founded grasp of Financial Statement
Practical knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting
Experience with Microsoft Excel
Foundational knowledge in journal entries
Quality experience with Cost of Goods Sold (COGS)
Good understanding of inventory analysis
Earlier work involving Inventory Reconciliation
Expertise in month end closings
Previous experience working with budget forecasting
Comprehension of Property Tax
Adjusting Journal Entries experience
Comprehensive knowledge of general ledger
Ability to meet deadlines
Experience with ERP systems
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
