Production Planner

Where we need you

• Responsible for planning activities pertaining to production schedule creation and maintenance, material ordering, vendor management, receiving and inventory control for respective business unit to meet customer requirements.

• Shall adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices, and ensures that all equipment is in safe operating condition and meets or exceeds OSHA Standards.
• Comply with all QMS / EMS procedures and work instructions as it pertains to the position description.
• Oversee all ordering and receiving of production material, and control Business Unit inventory levels. Establish buffers and create production schedule for the assigned manufacturing operations in the business unit.
• Assure all receiving and production schedule processes comply with PFD, PFMEA, and control plans approved through PPAP process.

• Ensures that all material planning related activities in the office and on the production floor are carried out in a safe manner. Responsible to address any unsafe practices by any employee that are witnessed in any area on the shop floor or in the office.
• Responsible for buffer calculations, weekly follow-up on buffer fluctuation, and maintaining calculated buffer in inventory.
• Updates and maintains weekly production schedule by line and schedule attainment, completes weekly cycle counts for each business unit accurately and maintains repetitive schedules to the latest revisions.
• Maintaining an accurate 6-12 week forecast to suppliers and updating supplier releases in MRP and Supply Web.
• Manage receipt of material at receiving, entry accuracy in MRP system and proper receiving inspection quality checks are being performed in accordance to the product’s process control plan (PCP).
• Sustaining accurate parameter in MRP system (Lead Time, Safety Stock, Shrink, etc), reviewing each Business unit BOM in the MRP system (10 per week) for accuracy, and confirming the process flow and pay points by walking them on the shop floor.
• Effectively supports and understands the Roechling Automotive Management of Projects (RAMP) and overall launch responsibility. Responsible to complete on time all deliverables assigned to the Material Planner under RAMP program and support RAMP program Gate reviews. Material Planner deliverables includes Plant Build Schedule, Production Ramp-up Plan, BOM Verification, Buffer Calculations, Container Verification, Receiving Inspection, and supplier material ordering.
• Manage Material Technicians (where applicable) on all tasks defined in the material process job description. Daily support of material technicians in their roles.
• Train Business Unit team members and operators on proper receiving processes, cycle counts, and production reporting to attainment. Responsible for all job functions of the Customer Service Representative during his/her absence.
• Performs all other functions as required; included are any work assignments relating to the efficient flow of work within Roechling.

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in materials/inventory/procurement management or the equivalent/relevant experience.
• APICS certification is preferred

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• One (1) year or more of experience in a complex Tier 1 or 2 Automotive OEM parts production facility.
• Advanced understanding of MRP Systems, Inventory control and the production planning process.
• Inventory control experience including cycle counting
• Minimum two (2) years in Material Planning role
• Knowledge of SAP/Supply Web ERP systems – or similar systems.
