The Access to Education Service is looking to recruit an Officer to support the operational delivery of our teams. The role offers an opportunity to develop a range of skills to support the effective tracking of children without a school place and supporting the admission to school, admissions appeals and Children Missing Education statutory processes.
The role will offer a flexible approach to work with a combination of time spent in our office location at Riverside House and time spent working from home.
You will be required to use a range of IT applications including Microsoft ‘Teams’, inputting information on to the education data management system, processing school applications, preparing decision letters and supporting the preparation of appeals and Fair Access Protocol cases using word documents and using excel spreadsheets to track children through statutory process to point of enrolment in school.
You will be expected to communicate with a range of stakeholders both internally and externally including parents/carers, schools and academies, services across Children and Young People’s services and external agencies, using a range of media applications such as email, Virtual Communication (e.g.MS Teams), letter and telephone.
As part of the Access to Education Service, the post requires you to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, families and wider stakeholders both within Rotherham and wider.
Under supervision you will be required to produce written statements, input information accurately on to education data systems, collate accurate information to support panel hearings, process applications and produce notification letters to communicate decisions to families and schools in relation to admission application outcomes and panel decisions. Attention to detail is essential.
You must be enthusiastic, a strong team member with commitment, flexibility, and with a capability to work on your own initiative following initial joint-working and in-house training to meet statutory timelines.
In-house training will be provided to ensure that candidates have the skills and knowledge required to do the job effectively.
