Based at Riverside House, Rotherham
The Elective Home Education Team are looking for an innovative and ‘can do’ officer to support the activities of the team in ensuring the Council’s statutory duties continue to be met for children being Home Educated.
The team is part of the Access to Education Service which has a responsibility for Elective Home Education and includes teams such as Admissions to School, Exclusions and Children Missing Education to support any pathways and referrals.
You will be expected to carry your own workload of involvement in EHE cases , which will include working with wider partners and stakeholders as necessary. The work will focus on ensuring the identification of children who are Electively Home Educated and establishing the suitability of education.
As part of the EHE team, the post requires you to have a strong local community commitment and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both colleagues and families.
You will be required to communicate with families and stakeholders in a variety of formats including face to face meetings in families own homes, meetings at other venues and attending meetings via a range of technical formats.
You will be required to produce written reports in relation to visits and contacts and make appropriate referrals where there are safeguarding or other concerns in relation to a child’s welfare or the suitability of education being provided.
You will be required to produce reports and data for the EHE governance group and other groups, forums and committees as required to ensure oversight of EHE is retained.
You must be enthusiastic, a good team member with commitment, flexibility, and with a capability of working on your own initiative.
You will need to demonstrate positive skills in establishing and developing productive working relationships and also deliver against personal and team targets.
Additional training will be provided to ensure the right candidate have the skills and knowledge required to do the job effectively.
