Seeking a graduate/junior Software Developer to assist and provide IT solutions for the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW.

About the role

We have a great opportunity for a recently graduated or junior Software Developer to join our IT team. RAS is currently developing a Competition Administration System (CAS) to assist in the configuration, management and reporting of the multiple competitions held during the Sydney Royal Easter Show and throughout the year. This position will be a maximum term contract until October to help deliver this project.

Working in a collaborative project team environment, you will be able to assess business requirements, design, develop and deliver a solution frequently through a structured development lifecycle within an agreed timeframe.

In this role you will demonstrate continuous attention to technical excellence, able to design and configure systems testing, foster a close working relationship with stakeholders and provide a superior service. You will also actively participate in sprint reviews and retrospectives, offer insight into the development lifecycle and instigate agreed improvement actions.

Key responsibilities for this role are:

• Contributing to the design and technical development of application solutions
• Analysing applications and/or specifications and provide recommendations for enhancement or development
• Configuring and carrying out application testing based on design specifications
• Gathering and document business requirements, design, develop and deliver solutions
• Developing and maintaining good working relationships with customers, internal and external teams
• Improving the User Interface of the CAS System, Making it user friendly

To be successful in this role you would need to possess the following essential knowledge, skills & competencies:

Essential:

• A relevant degree (software engineering, computer science or similar)
• At least 1-2 years’ professional experience preferred
• Strong programming/scripting skills

Nice to have, knowledge of:

• Enterprise applications with Angular 13 or above
• Strong Typescript and JavaScript

• Developing REST APIs using C# Core Web API 6.0,

• Entity Framework 6.0

• Azure SQL database – with focus on query performance

• Front end knowledge – HTML, CSS, and JSON

Desirable:

• Strong Experience developing and deploying web applications to Azure
• Angular Material UI libraries
• Telerik Kendo UI libraries
• Experience with Azure DevOps – Pipelines (Build & Release)
• Diagnosing and fixing issues on live Azure-hosted web apps and databases
• Git – strong knowledge of concepts – branching & merging
• JIRA sprint management
