Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre Looking for Patient Care Assistant at Barrie, ON Full Time

Job Description:
The Regional Pandemic Response Unit (PRU) is a 70-bed fully-functional, four-season field hospital equipped to deliver safe, quality care. The temporary unit was constructed to create capacity for all hospitals in the region. The PRU is NOT a COVID-19 unit nor is it for Alternate Level of Care patients. Patients transferred to the PRU will be medical patients with an average length of staff between three to five days.

RVH is looking for a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support the Pandemic Response Unit (PRU) in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. We are looking for PCAs from all disciplines and areas of the hospital to join our team. As the PCA you will assist with the provision of patient care and the efficient operation of the unit/area under the direction of a health care professional. You will assess, plan, coordinate and manage care of patients and families in conjunction with an interdisciplinary team and according to hospital and department policies and procedures. When this temporary unit closes you will transition to the Medicine Float Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
As a qualified candidate you will have the following job requirements:

• Completed a recognized program for personal support worker
• Current Basic Rescuer Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life support
• Member of the Ontario Personal Support Worker Association (OPSWA) and/or Personal Support Network of Ontario (PSNO) an asset
• Previous patient care experience in hospital environment or health related community work, preferred
• Basic computer skills
