We are currently recruiting for an Assistant Underwriter to join our established team based at our Manchester City Centre office.

This is your chance to build a real career for yourself while working toward becoming a fully licenced Underwriter by joining our team in Manchester.

We are part of the Commercial Lines division of RSA that specialises in writing all lines of Commercial business for Corporate customers in the UK. You will be joining a dynamic, highly motivated and successful Trading Centre delivering sales & service to all of the UK Regions Business.

What we are looking for

What do I need to be successful in this role?

• You’ll need to be a driven and motivated team player with a hardworking, ‘can do’ attitude and a passion for delivering excellent customer service.

• You’ll need lots of initiative and the ability to multi task to solve a variety of problems.

• You will have a high degree of accuracy and a keen eye for detail. You do not need previous Insurance experience however you must be able to demonstrate your passion for delivering world class customer service.

• You will be a team player working to deliver on your team’s objectives as well as your own.

• Finally a high level of enthusiasm, resilience and a good sense of fun will stand you in good stead for a role with the RSA Group.

Advantageous

• Previous experience of working in the financial sector or other regulated industries would be advantageous.

The Role

• Under guidance, you will work with Insurance Brokers and other professionals across the UK by underwriting policies, identifying and securing new opportunities, supporting profitable growth by assessing the likelihood of future claims in order to deliver against individual and team new business targets.

• You will suggest ways to reduce risk, decide upon the premium of the insurance and draw up contracts. You’ll also be issuing policies and processing premiums.

• The role demands that you deliver the highest levels of customer service, getting to know your customers’ requirements, explaining technical information and selling the benefits of our products to them effectively.
