Interventional Technician – Anesthesia

Anesthesia Technicians are responsible for processing of reusable equipment for the cleaning and disinfection to manufacturer specification and operating room turnover. They assist in the care of patients as directed by an anesthesia provider. They ensure that all inventory is stocked to the quantity and as outlined by the medical staff. Anesthesia Technicians exemplify the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and act in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
Maintain Anesthesia sites with the same specificity as the operating room suites which include the following areas but not limited to: PICU, Endoscopy, MRI, Interventional Radiology, IVF, OB and adjacent labor delivery rooms
Maintain and monitor inventory supplies in the prep recovery area and check all anesthesia sites/inventory daily for outdated stock
Responsible for stocking OB, labor delivery rooms, Epidural bay room, and other supply sitesResponsible for assembling central line/ A-line kits in accordance with the agreed protocolSet-up in preparation in the cardiac and neuro anesthesia sites
Check code bags for used/outdated equipment/ supplies and maintain inventory according to protocol.
Remove and replace all used single patient care items immediately after each procedure/caseAssist in the turnover of cases, but not limited to: disposal of all single use items, replacement of the anesthesia circuit, suction canister and tubing, yank Auer, ECG leads.
Wiping down anesthesia machine and Pyxis cart.
Be certified in the use of the EVOTEK and responsible for the cleanliness of all airway equipment (i.e. Glide scopes, fiber optic intubating scopes, etc.)
Must be knowledgeable of the JACHO and IDPH regulations as it applies to AnesthesiaImmediately respond to emergency requests from anesthesia staff for additional supplies/equipment as required.
Must be knowledgeable of terminology of anesthesia supplies and procedures.
Assist in the preparation of the anesthesia site for all cases/procedures requiring anesthesiaResponsible for cleanliness and disinfecting the equipment in the anesthesia administration sites including but not limited to the Pyxis, and C-cart and all reusable equipment.
Be familiar with the Medical Centers Safety Policies & Procedures.
Assists in the training/orientation of new hire employees and recovering of equipment
Position Qualifications Include:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
Education background in science and/or biology, EMT experience, or hospital-based work experience preferred, Graduate from an anesthesia tech program preferred.
American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians certified preferredAmerican Heart Association Basic Life Support certification. This competency is available through Rush after employment.
Previous or current Anesthesia Tech or patient care experience in a hospital or health clinic setting
Ability to lift 30 pounds
