About University Business Services
University Business Services (UBS) is a division of the Office of the Vice President Operations and Administration and provides a number of different services to students, staff, faculty and guests of the University. Their mission is to provide and promote revenue generating services which support the academic mission of the University in a way that remains flexible and responsive to the changing needs of the University. UBS is comprised of several business units including Campus Store, Duplicating and Printing Services, Parking Services, OneCard Office, Ryerson Food Services, Events and Space Reservation Services and Ryerson Urban Farm.
The Opportunity
You will be an essential member of the Ryerson Food Services Team. As the successful candidate, you will be part of Ryerson’s commitment to local sourcing and sustainability, and commitment to promote fresh, wholesome, sustainably sourced food for the campus community.
As the Driver (Material Handler) you will be responsible for transporting and delivering food products and other materials for the University.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a secondary school graduation diploma.
Completion of courses on material handling powered equipment.
Valid “G” level driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract
Minimum of 6 months experience in a relevant position.
Knowledge of WHMIS.
Knowledge of Food Safety and Physical Safety rules.
Toronto Public Health Food Handlers or Recognized Serve Safe Certification is an asset.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal and client service skills, including tact and diplomacy, to ensure efficient and effective support for members of the Ryerson community.
Understanding of local sourcing and sustainability. Willingness to learn about and maintain Ryerson’s commitment to promote fresh, wholesome and sustainably sourced food for the campus community.
Demonstrated record of attendance/reliability is required.
