Sage Seniors Association Looking for Research Assistant at Edmonton, AB Full Time

Sage Seniors Association (Sage) has the only targeted hoarding supports program in Northern Alberta, and co-created the Edmonton Hoarding Coalition (EHC), a collaborative network of community organizations, housing providers, and government agencies aiming to provide integrated service responses to hoarding cases. As part of this work, Sage and EHC are undertaking a research project to explore the relationship between hoarding and housing insecurity.

This research project will shed light on an under-studied phenomenon by investigating the scope and nature of the relationship between hoarding behaviour and housing insecurity, with the aim of providing both replicable methods and generalizable results for other Canadian urban centres. The research will also provide valuable insight into how community-based organizations, municipalities, and housing agencies can work together most effectively to increase the housing security of individuals living with hoarding behaviour.

The study will involve a mixed methods approach with two phases of data collection and analysis. We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the work of Phase One, occurring between August and November 2022. This phase involves establishing the scope of the issue and providing a theoretical grounding for further study.

Responsibilities include: Secondary data collection and analysis Targeted survey development, dissemination, and analysis Environmental scan of hoarding-related service responses and best practices across Canada Literature review targeted at integrated service responses to hoarding and housing insecurity Administrative support (e.g. coordinating Project Team meetings and note-taking)

This is a remote contract position ending November 30, 2022. Hours of work will vary according to deliverable deadlines, but will range between 10 – 25 hours per week at $30.00 per hour.
