What you’ll be doing…

The primary focus of this position is to work with a team of elite engineers whose charter is to ensure that all customers have a delightful experience with the reliability and performance of Tableau Online. We take on key projects to mitigate customer and operational pain points, eventually handing off robust solutions to the right long-term owners and then on to the next key challenge! Your work will directly improve the experience and value of Tableau’s brand as customers enjoy a fluid experience while they explore and understand their data. This position will provide many interesting, hard-core technical challenges and as much responsibility as you can handle.

Some of the things you’ll be doing include …

• As a member of Tableau’s Online Cloud Site Reliability team, specific responsibilities include:

• Collaborate with a world-class engineering team to propose and develop features to solve recurring patterns of customer and operational pain points.

• Play a key role in monitoring and improving the measurable uptime, availability and performance of Tableau Online.

• Work multi-functionally to help us transform our business and operations to center around strong cloud-based products.

• Proactively identify problems that may lead to a poor customer experience and work across service owners to fix them before they impact customers.

• Participate in the evolution of the system architecture.

• Operate as an Incident Manager for customer facing service issues.

• Conduct brown bags, deep dives and presentations to the Dev community in Tableau.

• Coach junior engineers on the team.

• Develop self-serve frameworks to monitor the health, reliability and performance of Tableau Online.

Who you are…

• Professional software development / Site Reliability / DevOps experience (Java, Python or C++).

• Experience with high availability and low latency distributed systems.

• Hands-on cloud experience strongly preferred (AWS, Azure or GCP).

• Deep understanding of Cloud platform technologies – AWS EC2, EKS and Kubernetes preferred.

• Configuring monitoring and alerting systems and process management – ITIL experience a plus.

• Knowledge of industry standard tools for monitoring and scaling services.

• Excellent troubleshooting and analytic skills.

• Familiarity of NoSql, relational databases and data warehousing is a plus.

• Ability to work well individually, and as part of a team on large, complex projects with minimal guidance
