We are looking for anArts Program Coordinatorwho will work under the direction of the Leadership Team of the Salt Lake City Arts Council to facilitate, oversee development, and implement arts projects, programs, and initiatives. Based at the historic Finch Lane Gallery, the position primarily oversees the Living Traditions Festival and Programs; Brown Bag Concert Series; and other interdisciplinary community-based programming. This position also collaborates with, manages contracts, and provides oversight to contracted partners for the Twilight Concert series; Busker Festival; Open Streets; and one-off community events and projects as prioritized. This position also proactively builds partnerships; convenes community groups; and provides information and technical assistance, as needed, to artists, arts organizations, and the general public,
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for the arts and community building as well as knowledge of event production. Candidates should be highly organized, able to multitask, delegate, meet rigid deadlines; and problem solve in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
This position requires strong leadership and interpersonal skills to oversee duties and manage part-time staff responsible for event operations and production; sponsorship development and fundraising; artist services; volunteer management; oversight for large and small scale events; and public relations and marketing. Previous experience in government or non-profit contexts is desired.
The mission of the Arts Council is to promote, present, and support artists, arts organizations, and arts activities in order to further the development of the arts community and to benefit the public by expanding awareness, access, and participation. The Salt Lake City Arts Council was established by City ordinance in 1976. The Arts Council’s home is the Art Barn in Reservoir Park. It is a division in the Department of Economic Development that maintains a nonprofit corporation with 501(c)(3) status. Art Council programs include Living Traditions, Twilight Concert Series, Finch Lane Gallery Brown Bag Concert Series, Literary Arts Programs, Public Art Program, City Arts Grants. The Arts Council also fulfills various other roles such as technical assistance, education, professional development, marketing, incubation, and convening.

Responsibilities
Artistic Development and Project ManagementResponsible for devising and delivering programs consistent with the aims of the organizational strategic plan and budget.Drives the growth of artistic programming through building strong and enduring partnerships with local organizations and artists.Works with internal and external stakeholders to deliver strategic, quality, and culturally relevant curation. Participates in industry events and with local stakeholders to further best practice in the field.Represents the organization at press events, local arts and culture events, and conferences etc.Provides technical assistance and information to the general public about community resources related to programs.
Logistical Planning, Organization, and Execution of EventsCoordinates all aspects of programming, scheduling, and communication with vendors, artists, and community partners.Supervises part-time and seasonal staff responsible for program production, educational outreach, volunteer management, sponsorship and development, etc.Facilitates event execution including on-site set-up, production, and smooth operation of large and small scale events.Secures all necessary permits for events and adheres to local regulations in event execution.
Administrative Management
Works closely with administration and finance staff to develop and adhere to budgets.Pro-active sponsorship development in coordination with part-time and seasonal staff and leadership team.Maintains program evaluation and metrics tracking.Facilitates application and selection processes for public programs.Creates, monitors, and completes contracts with private partners and contractors for services.Creates presentations and reports to board of directors at periodic meetings.Completes additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Arts Administration or a closely related field plus four years’ professional experience in arts administration, project management or event/production management, at a public or private arts agency or organization. Experience and education may be substituted, one for the other, on a year-for-year basis.
Experience in project management and programmatic coordination.
General knowledge of art disciplines, trends and their methods of operation.
Staff management experience and enthusiasm is a must, including the ability to delegate and follow up, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, be an effective leader, employ quick decision-making processes on site at large scale events, and be a team player that has a high level of enthusiasm and positivity in a highly public-facing position.
Exercise of discretion and independent judgment is required to perform assigned duties.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in fundraising, sponsor development and grant writing.
Public relations and communications experience.
Knowledge of technical production of large-scale public events/exhibitions.
