Sampan House NZ Ltd Looking for Chinese Cook at Greymouth Central, West Coast Full Time

The Sampan House NZ Ltd in Greymouth is running a Chinese restaurant and is looking for two passionate & motivated Chinese cooks who could cook Chinese foods to join us. It is a full time and permanent position. The cooks we are looking for will work normally 40 hours per week, from Tuesday to Sunday (a rotating roster, including weekends) and be paid at least $27.80 per hour. In this role, the main tasks include but not limited to the followings,

• Preparing, cooking and portioning Chinese food according to customers’ order including their dietary requirements
• Assist to decide menus and order cooking material with the other staff
• Participate in the design of the menus and estimate cost of the food
• Stock control and minimize food wastage
• Cleaning and maintaining a hygienic work environment at all times
• Strictly follow menu specifications as well as food safety
• Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
• Demonstrate new cooling techniques and equipment to staff and training new kitchen staff
• Determine how food should be presented, and create decorative food displays
• Check and maintain proper food holding by handling, storing and rotating all products properly and refrigeration temperature control points.
• Demonstrate flexibility in regards to working on a 6-day roster including weekends and public holidays

Selection criteria,

• Holding a Cookery Certificate qualification
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy/open plan kitchen.
