Samsung Electronics America Hiring for GPU Program Manager at San Jose, California Full Time

Position Summary

Samsung is a world leader in Memory, LCD and System LSI technologies. We are currently looking for exceptional software and hardware talent to join our Samsung Austin R & D Center (SARC) in Austin, TX and our Advanced Computing Lab (ACL) in San Jose, CA. SARC was established in Austin, TX in 2010 to be one of Samsung’s strategic investments in high performance low power ARM based device technology. Presently our GPU design teams, located in Austin (SARC) and San Jose (ACL), are developing a GPU that will be deployed in Samsung mobile products. Our System IP team located in Austin (SARC) is working on Coherent Interconnect and memory controller architectures. This position can be located in San Jose, CA or Austin TX.

Role and Responsibilities

The GPU Program Manager will be responsible for the successful delivery of the roadmap of Graphics IP designed by the organization. This person will work with the R&D teams to develop project plans including schedules, resource estimates, risk mitigation plans, quality metrics, etc. They will then be responsible to help the R&D teams manage the execution of the program for on time delivery. A key role of this person is to bridge the various teams to make sure issues, blockers, and challenges are taken care of between the Architecture & Modeling, RTL, DV, Physical Design, Performance & Power, Customer, IT, CAD, Silicon Evaluation, Software and SOC groups. This person must be technical and have a passion to dig in and learn about the product being developed. They must also learn the processes used in the organization and when needed recommend modifications to them. The role is technically broad, but also requires exceptional soft skills to deal with conflict situations and negotiate agreements between teams.

Skills and Qualifications

Key responsibilities include:

• Program management of the full roadmap of Graphics IP. There are multiple designs in flight in parallel for various customers. Complexity is high.

• Ensure schedules, deliverables, quality, product targets for power, area, and performance are well understood and tracked continuously.

• Coordination with customer.

• Facilitation of executive reviews.

• Transfer of intermediate and final design data to customer.

Minimum requirements:

• BSEE, Computer Engineer or comparable and 7 + years of hands on experience in some aspect of hardware design (RTL, DV, Physical implementation, CAD etc.)

• Understanding and working knowledge of the SOC/ASIC process from concept, design, validation, implementation, to tape release and silicon evaluation.

• Linux systems experience with the ability to do some scripting as needed.

• Ability to create plans, track progress to them, and adjust as needed to deliver a final product.

• Strong communication skills, team player working in a collaborative work environment, discipline and planning; ability to execute with high quality deliverables is a must

• Ability to work independently, take-charge and improve project visibility with minimal mentorship

• Comfortable working with worldwide partners across different time zones, geographies, and diverse technical disciplines to define commitments, report on status, and deliver projects to expectation

• Excellent skills at communicating and presenting project details

• Experience using tools like MS Project, MS Office, JIRA and Confluence, and ability to implement process automation in support of this role

Preferred candidate will possess the following:

• Some leadership experience leading/managing teams and / or experience program managing IP used in SoC’s

• Prior GPU hardware development experience a plus

• Craft and implement new processes for workflow between different teams

• Working knowledge of Verilog, UVM methodologies, DFT, Physical Implementation and silicon evaluation.
