General Description:

The dispatcher serves as liaison between vessel crews and the Port Captain’s office. This position requires strong adminitrative skills, organization and record keeping. Dispatch utilizes a variety of communication systems daily to coordinate vessel position, vessel status, crew status, estimated times of arrival and departure to and from port and emergency information for tug operations office planning. Also incharge of submitting orders, schedule various movements and communicating operational information back to crewmembers. This position works in close cooperation with Ops Management. Willing to train the right person.

Responsibilities/Performance Standards:

• Utilize computer, cellular, and conventional telecommunication systems to monitor and direct vessel traffic, maintaining complete and accurate records.
• Prepare, update and distribute daily vessel movements and vessel schedule. Priority vessel movements must be updated at all hours.
• Provide customers and vendors information regarding position, status, and berth assignment confirmations as requested.
• Coordinate berthing assignments, and pilotage instructions at each individual port.
• Coordinate dispatch times and needs and arrange transportation for crewing changes in all ports as requested.
• Coordinate stores and other vessel / crew needs in all ports as requested or scheduled.
• Order services for Sause Bros. vessels as requested and coordinated through the Management Office.
• Provide up to the hour status on all vessel movements and schedule changes to office personnel as requested.
• Maintain and update as required tug crewing board and electronic Dispatches.
• Arrange and coordinate all assist tugs as requested.
• Provide sales orders and other data to accounting for invoicing as required.
• Arrange/maintain/supply lube oil for delivery as required for various tugs.
• Arrange and coordinate delivery of diesel fuel as required for various tugs.
• Attend regular Operations Meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Incumbent will possess working knowledge of all Hawaiian ports utilized by tug operations, general knowledge of crew licensing requirements, logistical experience in procuring stores and services. Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong computer skills are required. Comprehensive knowledge of the local industry is key. We are willing to train the right person with a strong administrative background.

Work Remotely:

• Remote work required when on call after normal business hours.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
