Your day.

As an Surgery Scheduler you need to know how to:

• Coordinate the processes related to the receipt of requests to schedule operative, endoscopy, and anesthesia procedures.
• Monitor fax and phone requests for accuracy of type of case requested and related needs from equipment, staff and physicians.
• Verify next day cases with Dr.’s office – Patient Names, times, procedure & equipment, and surgeon name.
• Use critical thinking skills to determine specific preference card that matches surgeon needs.
• Discuss order of cases when surgeon has multiple cases scheduled in the same day to enhance utilization of OR resources.
• Understand the resources required to perform OR procedures and collaborates on patient needs with OR management team.
• Understand the clinical implications for prep and anesthesia and relays information accurately to the patient.
• Triage patient questions or additional clinical information to correct provider.
• Contact patients to schedule and explain Endoscopy procedures and nerve block procedures.
• Assign cases to appropriate operating room based on type of case and room capabilities.

Your experience.

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, spreadsheet knowledge, and computer applications used for patient information data entry, required
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a comparable setting, required
• At least one (1) year of experience in an office administrative, customer service, or medical office support position, preferred
