We are owned by ConnellCaldic, the largest marketer and distributor of specialty chemicals and ingredients in the Asia-Pacific region.
We have a great opportunity for a Shipping & Purchasing Team Leader to join our team at our offices on the North Shore. This role is part of and supports a dynamic and energetic executive sales team in sourcing and shipping products from overseas.
You will be responsible for leading the Shipping & Purchasing team in Australia and New Zealand in the ordering of shipments of product and dealing with our suppliers, freight forwarders and customs agents. The role will focus on developing the team as well as undertake standard Shipping and Purchasing duties as part of the team which include placing product orders with overseas suppliers, monitoring and reporting on shipments and booking stock into our ERP system.
Key Responsibilities
· Management of the Shipping & Purchasing team on a daily basis
· Coach and mentor team members
· Place purchase orders and negotiate and finalise sales contracts with suppliers
· Place product orders with overseas suppliers and monitor and report on these shipments
· Work with customs agents and freight forwarders
· Coordinate lead times, delivery dates and exceptions
· Submit shipping documents for customs clearance and coordinate cartage to warehouse / customers
· Select and review warehouse and logistics providers and negotiate service level agreements and rates
· Manage stock accounts and ensure discrepancies are resolved
Key Requirements
· Have previous experience in managing a small team across Australia and New Zealand.
· A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in managing the shipment of goods.
· Have extensive knowledge of international importation of goods procedures, shipping terms and regulations that effect the importation of goods.
· Have extensive knowledge and experience in dealing with overseas suppliers and sourcing products from overseas.
· Analytical thinker with strong business acumen
· Self- motivated, results oriented with high drive and need for achievement
· Practical, strong problem-solving abilities with good organizational skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to establish relationships across organization levels, both internally and externally
· Ability to motivate and lead teams
· Positive can-do attitude
· Experience with JDE would be advantageous.
