SCOTT Technology Looking for Fitter Machinist | Christchurch at New Zealand Full Time

The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Fitter Machinist to join our team in Christchurch on a permanent, full-time basis, who will work closely with, Scott Group staff, apprentices, and contractors as required. This role will involve being part of a team that produces high quality work in manufacturing, fitting components and assemblies of our projects as well as participating in the commissioning of plant and customised equipment.

Key skills we are looking for:

• Producing quality workmanship and completing manufacturing and assembly tasks accurately to Scott standards and set targets.
• Operating various manual and CNC machine tools to support tasks.
• Verbal reporting details of job progress and timelines- current and expected.
• Ability to understand mechanical setup of mechanisms, datums, tolerances and fits.
• Mentoring and assisting apprentices.
• Competent in the operation of Microsoft products, and general computer skills.
• Ability to supervise and work productively with contractors as part of a small team to achieve targets

You will have:

• A relevant trade qualification.
• Previous experience in a similar position.
• Excellent, and confident communication skills both written and verbal.
• Strong and varied machining experience e.g., CNC and manual milling and lathes would be an advantage.
• A professional manner and the drive to meet deadlines.
• The ability to work diligently and efficiently, alone or in a team fitting cell environment.
• Availability to travel (domestic or international) to our customers’ sites to install and commission equipment as required.
• A commitment to working within a strong Health & Safety conscious environment.
