These programs require world-class Embedded Software Engineers to support the successful design, development, and integration of Seeing Machines technology for customers across the world.

As part of the Software Engineering team, you will be involved in the delivery of projects for both internal and external projects – from initial concept design, advising leading global automotive manufacturers on all aspects of the Product Development Life Cycle, right through to design for testing and manufacture on internal projects. Working with C++ and C, you will apply your embedded software expertise to develop computer vision systems that comply to safety and process standards.

The key responsibilities of the role include:
Embedded Software Design & Development

• Working with cross-discipline Engineering teams to deliver commercial driver/occupant/pilot monitoring applications
• Embedded software engineering (C and C++) across the full product development lifecycle, including prototyping, requirements definition, architectural and detailed design, estimation, implementation, unit-testing, integration testing, documentation, design and code reviews.

• Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or equivalent
• Demonstrated ability of working within a high performing team of engineers. Proven ability to provide leadership, coaching and guidance to team members to meet demanding project scheduling goals
• Demonstrated commercial experience developing products using C/C++ within an embedded environment
• Demonstrated experience taking a design from concept to manufacturing of an embedded system, ensuring best practices, including expertise in:
• embedded Linux Operating System and/or commercial RTOS’s (e.g., Greenhills, QNX)
• computer architecture and its elements (cache controllers, memory controllers & busses, interrupt controllers, kernel configuration, RAM disks, file systems, etc)
• ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART communication protocols, programming external peripherals
• architecture-specific acceleration and optimization
• experience in hardware bring-up, Linux boot sequence (fsbl, u-boot, and Linux kernel) and familiarity with Linux kernel driver, device trees, etc.
• hardware design concepts and development when working with System-on-Chip (SoC) devices with Programmable Logic
• laboratory hardware and operating advanced measurement tools e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analysers, multimeters, data loggers etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Linux Kernel within an embedded environment
• Highly organized – results and delivery oriented
• Ability to collaborate, build effective relationships and influence others within a matrix management organisation
• Strong problem solving, data analysis and analytical skills
• Ability to express technical concepts clearly, both verbally and written
• Ability to work effectively and cooperatively within a team

Advantageous

• Demonstrated experienced in developing safety-critical applications and compliance to industry safety standards such as ASPICE/CMMI/ISO 26262 etc.
• An understanding of Agile methodology
• Demonstrated experience with ARM-based SoCs
• Experience with FPGA embedded processor design (e.g., ZYNQ, Altera SoCs, MicroBlaze, NIOS)
• Experience writing Python or other scripting languages
• Experience developing computer vision and/or image processing software
