About the Role

The Software Engineer (DevOps) role is responsible for researching, designing, developing, and automating the cloud infrastructure and deploying Serko’s core products aligned with DevOps principles. The individual in this role should demonstrate the ability to learn and experiment with new technologies (such as Docker/Kubernetes) and define processes and practices to enable our product engineering teams to operate in a “build it and run it” environment while supporting and maintaining existing patterns and frameworks as we transition to a new normal.

What you will be doing

• Work with the team to identify and implement improvements in our DevOps culture, practices, and tools
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to make deployments safe, easy and scalable for our product engineering teams
• Enable our product engineering teams to work in a “build it and run it” environment by enhancing the way teams build, deploy, monitor and support the components that they own
• Play an important role in the modernisation of existing infrastructure and DevOps practices

What you will bring to the role

• An experienced Cloud DevOps engineer who is interested in learning and applying DevOps culture, practices, and tools
• Experience building end-to-end CI/CD pipelines to deliver the product to the cloud
• Experience working with one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Digital Ocean) would be beneficial
• Familiar with using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, Chef, Cloud Formation
• Mentoring and coaching other engineers. Everyone has something to learn and something to share
• Experience with at least one of the scripting languages such as TypeScript, python or similar is hugely advantageous
• Experience working in an agile development team that applied and experimented with infrastructure automation, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
• Willingness to jump into our legacy infrastructure to help modernise how it is deployed
• Excited to learn about how our industry works and the impact we bring to our customers
• Open to receiving and giving feedback in a safe and inclusive work environment
