JOB SUMMARY:

Observe personnel entering medical facility ensuring approved entrance guidelines are observed including wearing of face mask or a type of face covering.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Treat all persons with respect and professionalism consistent with client Core Values: Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. This includes greeting patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department.
• Operate and enforce a system of personnel identification.
• Complete a search of bags and belongings (those not essential to the patient’s direct care) of patients, visitors, and vendors presenting to the Emergency Department.
• Be on standby for SI/HI (suicidal ideation/homicidal ideation) patients while they are being processed including undressing and securing the patient’s belongings.
• Securing the SI/HI patient’s belongings including logging them in and retrieving them when the patient is admitted, transferred, or discharged.
• Assisting staff with patients that are exhibiting disruptive behavior in accordance with Preventive Management of Disruptive Behavior training level.
• Assisting staff with ensuring that all visitors and vendors have proper identification per policy (visitor badges, etc.).
• Assisting staff with ensuring the policies for Service Animals are followed by patients and visitors.
• Immediately notify Police during serious incidents.
• Conduct Emergency Department patrols in accordance with established routes and schedules.
• Observe building occupants and visitors for compliance with posted rules and regulations.
• Maintain order within the areas of assignment.
• Discover and redirect persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to the property. Notify Police when appropriate.
• Immediately report potentially hazardous conditions and items in need of repair, including inoperative lights, leaky faucets, toilet stoppages, broken or slippery floor surfaces, etc., to the Nurse manager. Take immediate action to prevent injury of patients or staff.
• Obtain professional assistance in accordance with procedures in the officer’s Duty Book in the event of injury of illness to employees, visitors or others while in the building or on the grounds. Render First Aid and/or CPR in emergency situations and assist medical and law enforcement personnel as appropriate.
• Turn off unnecessary lights, check safes, lock-type repositories, and cabinets, close windows, open and secure doors and gates, etc.
• Prepare reports as required/directed. Maintain necessary records. As necessary, turn reports and records in to designated official. Submit a daily activity report (fax or email).
• Perform such other functions as may be necessary in the event of situations or occurrences such as civil disturbances, attempts to commit espionage, sabotage, or other criminal acts adversely affecting the security and/or safety of the client, its employees, property, and the general public, lawfully in buildings or on the grounds under the control of the client.
• Respond to emergency situations and provide appropriate assistance.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized to legally work in the United States
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or equivalent
• Must have at least two year’s of security guard experience
• Must have security guard card
• Proficient in the English language, both orally and written
• Shows mature judgment, reliability, dependability, tactfulness, and self-control
• Ability to retain composure and perform under pressure and to know when to call for assistance
• Ability to meet and deal effectively with the general public
• Ability to give instructions clearly and concisely, firmly but diplomatically
• Ability to construct and write clear, concise, accurate and detailed reports
• Ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
• Ability to wear and use all protective equipment
• Must be able to pass background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Physically able to perform all general duties, functions, and activities
• Occasionally bend/twist at waist/knees/neck to perform various duties
• Standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, climb (running when necessary)
• Ability to work in extreme weather like rain, snow, and extreme heat or cold
• Must possess good vision, depth perception, distinguish basic colors
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively through clear speech and hearing
