Working with a group of Secondary and Primary Schools, you will offer strategic support to schools and undertake assessments and casework with children and families to ensure that children benefit from a range of educational opportunities. The Service plays a crucial role in social inclusion, increasingly through multi-agency initiatives. Its core functions are to raise school attendance and hence attainment, to protect children and young people and to prevent their exploitation.
Education Welfare Officers administer the Directorate’s non-school attendance procedures and personally serve when necessary, warnings and summons, initiate Fixed Penalty Notices, write witness statements, prepare court files and attend court as required
