The Recruitment Officer leads student recruitment initiatives as well as focuses on supporting applicants through the initial stages of the application process at SIIT. The Recruitment Officer will play a key role in front-line provisions by planning, organizing and carrying out student recruitment at SIIT. The incumbent will actively recruit and engage with potential applicants and guide them through the proper process and procedure of admissions in order to become a registered learner. Collaborating with the Admissions team, this position will also involve, communications coordination and will support the admissions advising process for prospective applicants. This position provides additional support as required. The range of accountabilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Attend job fairs and virtual recruitment events to meet with prospective students
Work with department leadership to develop, implement and evaluate recruitment programs, strategies and initiatives to promote SIIT as the institute of choice for prospective students to meet strategic enrolment objectives
Coordinate and lead Institute events such as tours, high school visits, and applicant open houses, for potential students, applicants, and other recruitment initiatives in collaboration with other applicable SIIT staff and faculty
Create new content, campaigns, and engagement on SIIT’s social media platforms
Advise and follow up with interested individuals on current SIIT programs, their application, the necessary pre-requisites and required documents
Maintain positive rapport with applicants, stakeholders, faculty and administration
Proficiently manage the caseload of applicants within databases
Provide technical and professional expertise
Ensure accurate information gathering, coupled with confidential data collection and documentation
Update physical and electronic filing systems with new and current learners
Required Qualifications and Experience: A certificate or diploma in a business-related program is required. Minimum of one-year experience working with a learner population in a recruitment capacity is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset. Incumbent must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation as travel is required. This position may also be required to work outside of normal business hours (evenings and weekends); travel and flexibility are requirements of this position. Off-campus recruitment activities are most intense during September, October and November. Digital recruitment efforts will require comfort with social media and electronic engagement strategies and may require timely responses outside of business hours. As this position is considered safety sensitive, the incumbent will be subject to testing as per SIIT’s Alcohol and Substance policy.
This is a full time, term position up to June 30, 2023.
