As a Junior Backend Software Engineer, you will be involved in the creation of features and products aimed at satisfying the requirements of Sila’s customer base. Individuals in this role should possess experience in APIs, Python, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, React, or equivalent front-end frameworks. The capacity to generate high-quality code under the mentorship of our seasoned team is crucial. Tailored for individuals in the early stages of their careers, this role offers an opportunity for skill advancement while actively contributing to both frontend and backend development projects. This role is also expected to showcase proficiency in working with API and Front End development concepts.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Contribute to the design, development, and unit testing of software within a dynamic agile environment.
• Assist in the creation, enhancement, and upkeep of backend processes based on product requirements.
• Support in reviewing and managing data sets within relational and object databases.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to contribute ideas and assist in the design and implementation of features and applications.
• Write clear, efficient, and scalable code while actively engaging in design and code reviews.
• Translate business requirements, mockups, and input from product managers into achievable milestones and code.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal and external documentation for functional changes.
• Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills while working collaboratively within the team.
• Work collaboratively on assigned tasks and deliverables.
• Other duties as assigned

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• Foundational proficiency in Python programming language and a willingness to further develop skills.
• Ability to analyze problems efficiently and offer effective, workable solutions with guidance.
• Fundamental understanding of the software development lifecycle and eagerness to deepen knowledge in this area.
• Introductory knowledge of API security principles and best practices, with a commitment to expanding expertise.
• Capability to work collaboratively within a team while also possessing self-motivation to handle tasks with limited supervision and assistance.
• Developing written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey ideas and collaborate within the team.
• Willingness to engage in continuous self-development, staying abreast of fast-changing trends in the field.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, React, or similar front-end frameworks.
• Proficiency in SQL and database management systems

You’ll also have:

• Limited but growing backend engineering development experience, ideally exceeding one year.
• Exposure to AWS infrastructure, including event-driven microservices.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and eagerness to contribute to collaborative team efforts.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering (or equivalent experience). We also welcome applications from graduates of code schools.

In this role, you’ll be eligible for:

• Expected base salary is $85,000 – $105,000 annually, depending on relevant experience.
