SketchDeck Looking for Junior Software Engineer at United States Full Time

The engineering team at SketchDeck plays a key role in this by developing and maintaining a web application that powers our agency by providing project, client, and billing management tools and a host of supporting features.

We’re looking for someone ready to launch their professional career in the software industry. The role is US-based and fully remote.

As the Junior Engineer, you will focus on testing and learning our platform and diving into the technical implementation and coding solutions. You will be a part of the software development team at SketchDeck, where you’ll receive 1:1 mentoring from senior engineers, contribute to our QA process, and be involved with fullstack feature development using Javascript-based languages.

You will succeed in this role if you have a strong work ethic, a desire to learn software development from a skilled and experienced team, and are comfortable working independently from home.

SketchDeck is an entrepreneurial environment. You’ll be expected to jump in and learn many new things from day one.

Responsibilities

• Implement new features to existing software according to specifications
• Troubleshoot, debug, and test new features
• Suggest viable solutions to resolve issues with existing software
• Specify implementation details for proposed new functionality and features
• Maintain up-to-date records of issues with existing code, and propose potential improvements
• Maintain documentation for newly written code
• Implement fixes and modifications to front-end code
• Support other developers by assisting in the implementation of new functionality
• Write tests and fix existing tests in the automated testing suite

Qualifications

• Completed bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related major
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to research and execute solutions based on online guides and tutorials
• Technical aptitude and the ability to problem-solve
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and motivation to learn
• Ability to work independently in a remote work environment
• Experience with web development, HTML/CSS and Javascript
• Willingness to take on QA responsibilities
