SL Engineering is a structural, civil, and geotechnical engineering consultancy established a few years before in Christchurch. We are a specialised small consultancy, constantly engaged in various types of projects across New Zealand, from small-scale residential to industrial and commercial new building design. We have an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our small and friendly team based in Christchurch. Qualifications & experience

A Washington Accord/ NZ recognised degree in Civil/Structural Engineering 

Ideally previous New Zeland experience as a Structural Engineer, Minimum 2+ years 

Good communication ability (both written and verbal).

Understanding New Zealand Building Codes and Standards (structural).

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Good standard of computer literacy, including a sound ability to use Word, Excel, and MS Outlook to at least an intermediate level.

Awareness of health and safety issues on construction building sites as well as an office environment.  

Full NZ Driver’s License.

Tasks & responsibilities

Structural Design of small-scale residential buildings to industrial and large-scale commercial development.

Structural assessment for residential buildings.

Prepare reports, liaise with local authorities, and assist clients with the consenting process.

Construction monitoring under the supervision of senior engineers.

Undertake shallow geotechnical investigation and report as required.
