Position: Backend Software Engineer

Reports to: Backend Lead

Location: San Diego/Carlsbad, CA USA OR Dublin, Ireland

About the Position:

SleepScore Labs is looking for a Senior C# Backend Engineer with strong technical and engineering skills. As a senior technical contributor, you will be part of SleepScore Labs’s backend team and work closely with mobile developers. This role offers a wide variety of technical challenges to solve and explore related to innovative concepts for sleep industry, networked multiplayer games, and finding creative ways to meet the demands of players around the globe.

Core Responsibilities:

You will design and develop C# applications, services, automated tests, and tools as a member of the engineering team and coordinate as needed with all members of SleepScore Labs’s departments.

• Develop the backend platform, services, and platform components.
• Work closely with members of the platform team and engineering leadership to develop a high quality, functional product.
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable C# code, ensuring high-performing and high-quality services.
• Support our Portfolio including the “SleepScore” App and “Do I snore or grind” Sleep a.i app.

Ideal Candidate Must have the Following:

• Fluent in a broad swath of C#, including memory storage, Generics with Type Constraints, Custom Events, Custom Attributes, Generic Delegates, Multi-threading, Reflection, Extension Methods, lambda expressions, fluent with the primary file system operation classes, windows services, understands the garbage collection architecture and techniques for monitoring.
• Design and develop supporting components and services for the backend tiers focusing on fault-tolerance and scalability in a multi-tenant enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of SOA, object-oriented programming, design patterns, SOLID principles, multi-threaded application development and C#’s ecosystems.
• Proven skill writing clean, readable, reusable C# libraries and familiarity with a wide variety of design and architectural patterns.
• Demonstrated commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and creation of quality products.
• Strong written and verbal communications, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are necessary.
• Ability to interact and communicate successfully with business partners and technology teams.
• Very strong object-oriented design skills with proven track record of well-engineered design.
• Self-starter who can grasp difficult concepts and large architectures quickly and contribute at the architectural and coding levels.
• Demonstrated experience using relational databases.
• Experience with Entity Framework and LINQ.
• Strong estimation skills with ability to provide reasonable estimates.
• Experience with cloud-based development: Azure (preferably), AWS, Google Cloud
• Experience with unit testing and history of successful interaction with a QA group.
• Experience developing hosted client server applications.
• Experience and a desire to mentor peers and junior staff.
• BS or MS in computer science or related technical field desired.

Nice to Have:

• Experience using NoSQL databases is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of caching solutions (e.g. Redis) is a strong plus.
• Experience using a revision control system. GIT experience a strong plus.
• Experience with machine learning.
