About the Department
The Student Experience, Engagement & Retention team (SEER) has a mission to include, support and empower SOAS students. The vision of SEER is to: enable students from all backgrounds and experiences to feel welcome, accepted, and like they belong at SOAS; create inclusive environments for students to learn about their subject, themselves, and the world; deliver our work in a way that is student-centred and straightforward; ensure students have access to clear information and guidance; support students at their most vulnerable and empower them at their most capable.
SEER is part of the Directorate of Student and Academic Services (SAS) which has a vision to provide holistic service, support and educative experience to all students and researchers from induction, to student engagement and progression, leading to successful graduate outcomes. The Directorate will aim to provide high-level administrative support, advice and guidance to students, researchers and academic colleagues, so they receive expert, timely and accessible support across a wide range of activities.
About you We are looking for new members of the team who love to help students! You love to make things easier for students, to solve problems, and to help students succeed. You are able to support people when they are uncertain, stressed, upset, and/or confused, and can provide them with clarity on their next steps. Whether the student in front of you has a simple query or a complex one, you will be able to calmly, efficiently and inclusively guide them to the answers they need, so they can go back to focusing on their studies.
About the role
Under the supervision of the Student Hub Manager, you will deliver timely, accurate and expert advice and support to students and staff in all matters related with students across the School. You will receive and promptly respond to all queries from students and guests of the School, both internal and external. You will contribute to a positive student experience by providing clear information to students and signposting effectively to other teams as needed.
