Job Overview:
SoCal Gas is looking for an individual with experience in clerical functions to support District operations. We are in search of someone who has experience in administrative and clerical support. With pay starting at $40.71 / hr. we are offering comprehensive training to become a safe and efficient Senior Administrative Clerk; skills that will prepare you for a career with SoCal Gas. Current opening is in Valencia, CA.

Position Objective:
Perform a wide range of clerical functions, independently and as a member of a team. Acts in a lead capacity to the clerical section related to Dispatch operations, departmental operating budget and Technical Services (e.g. paving and permits, leakage survey, and work order control). Provide leadership, work direction, on-the- job training and coaching of other employees within each function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Under general supervision, performs various clerical functions requiring the exercise of independent judgment and analysis in developing, controlling and maintaining office routines, accounting principles, department records and files.
• Provides work direction and on-the-job training for lower grade and cross-level clerks.
• Organizes and coordinates work assignments in accordance with available work force and assigns back-up support to the clerical group. Monitors start and end time relating to all aspects of employees schedules.
• Responsible for completion, progress and due dates for self and work within the group.
• Prepares reports, graphs, for management review. Completes special projects assigned by supervisor and management staff in a timely manner. Audits various aspects of the work to ensure adherence to supervisor’s instructions.
• Compiles and submits revisions and inquiries to cost reports. Monitors and analyzes cost reports for accuracy.
• Composes complex spreadsheets, letters, procedures, memoranda and forms.
• Develops statistical comparison plan versus actual work volume and costs. Coordinates curtailment for the department.
• Possesses specialized skills and knowledge to ensure proper and timely payment of all Company invoices.
• Operates personal computer and peripheral equipment for word processing, data base maintenance and spreadsheet applications.
• Updates and modifies computer programs. Develops new computer programs for special studies.
• Responds to questions and concerns of various internal and external clients regarding issues related to clerical administration.
• Performs duties to Company guidelines and established safety procedures.
• Performs various other equivalent or lower grade functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must possess a valid California driver’s license.
• Requires experience and working knowledge of Word, Excel, and mainframe applications. (On some assignments may require Access, knowledge of graphic packages and other computer software programs).
• Must have effective oral and written communication skills; basic math; ability to handle multiple demands and operate a calculator.
• Requires two years of administrative / clerical experience
• Must pass pre-qualification and skills test – Typing 50 WPM.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
