About the role

SoftLabs is looking for a range of entry level Software Engineers that are passionate about coding, have the ability to pick things up quickly and enjoy working as part of a team to join their technology consulting based in Canberra

Experience Required

• 1-2 years’ experience working with software development or automation in operations or

• recently graduated in a computer science degree (or similar) or

• actively interested in programming or automation with the ability to demonstrate your capability

• Demonstrated experience in programming

• Solid understanding of software development principles using any language or toolset

• Independence, motivation and timely production of high-quality work.

• Solid communication skills

• A collaborative, problem solving attitude.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Participate in requirements analysis

• Write clean, maintainable and scalable code

• Collaborate with team members and other delivery teams to achieve outcomes

• Test and deploy applications and systems

• Revise, update, refactor and debug code

• Improve and maintain existing software

• Develop documentation throughout the software development life cycle (SDLC)Create a robust, efficient and scalable digital platforms for Australian Government and industry partners to consume

Essential Skills and Experience

• Outline your programming or automation experience, specifically what technologies you have used and what it was for (work experience, study projects, personal projects).

• Tell us what you enjoy working with most or are interested in learning

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Outline your experience with the following desirable criteria:

• JavaScript, .NET, Java or other object-oriented programming language

• Bash or PowerShell scripting

• Experience with source control

• Unit / Automated UI testing

• An experience working with cloud technology or infrastructure as code
