Position Summary:
We are seeking to hire a Senior Research Associate to work within SomaLogic’s Technology Development group in San Diego. Our primary goal is to create a next generation proteomics platform that delivers enhanced sensitivity, specificity, and time-to-answer at a lower cost relative to existing high-multiplex proteomics platforms. Our approach is to combine aspects of classical antibody sandwich immunoassays with more recent techniques from the field of DNA nanotechnology and the design of aptamer switches. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of molecular engineering for proteomics assays.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Independent design and execution of experiments for the characterization and optimization of proteomic assays with only high-level guidance.
Analysis of resulting data using Excel or other equivalent analytical tools.
Regular communication of technical results in written or presentation form to cross-functional teams associated with specific projects.
Writing documentation within SomaLogic’s Quality Management System. This includes contributing to the preparation of standard operating procedures (SOPs), equipment operating and maintenance instructions, validation reports, and technical reports
Preparing consumables and reagents for ongoing experiments.
Performing maintenance on laboratory equipment.
Operating and performing quality control checks on general laboratory equipment.
Complying with laboratory safety policies and procedures.
Participating in the continuous improvement process such as providing feedback on processes and procedures.
Participating in internal meetings, seminars, and trainings.

Education:
Required skills and experience:
Expertise in biochemical assay development and optimization.
Experience with a variety of molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with an interdisciplinary team.
Ability and willingness to continually expand laboratory skill set to incorporate new techniques and instrumentation into regular workday.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, optimize and solve challenging research problems.
Superb time management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated computer skills with word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, and statistical tools.
Preferred Experience:
Proficiency with Tecan, Beckman, Hamilton, or other liquid handling platforms.
Programming experience for scientific instrumentation and/or data analysis.
Experience developing quantitative proteomic assays.
Experience with proteins, aptamers, antibodies, bioconjugations, nucleic acids, and associated workflows.
Experience with methods such as ELISA, SDS-PAGE, western blotting, HPLC, FPLC, magnetic bead separations, and quantitative fluorimetry in plate readers.
Work Environment:
Work is in a typical laboratory environment with Personal Protective Equipment use required.
