Somerset County Council Hiring for Service Manager Education Leadership Development Job at Taunton, England , UK Full Time

As a result of the Education Redesign restructure a new and exciting development opportunity has been created for a Service Manager – Education Leadership Development role within the Education Partnerships & Skills Service.

The role is full-time, 37 hours per week.

The role will report to the Head of Education Leadership and will be instrumental in developing and maintaining evidence-based and impactful strategies and services for the delivery of strong and effective education leadership capacity over a 3-5 year time horizon.

What will I be doing?

You will work directly with trust Chief Executives, headteachers, Executive members and senior managers within the Authority, and with external partners and organisations, to develop an ambitious, stretching and impactful strategic approach to developing current and future education leaders in the county. Your objective will be to know where our best leaders are, to plan for succession, to support existing leaders to be the best that can be and to attract talent into the county.

You will manage a team, overseeing a range of leadership development disciplines, that will take existing valued support services and work with many different organisations to extend and increase the impact, focusing specifically on:

• County-wide recruitment and retention strategy for early years and schools sectors
• Delivery of traded headteacher recruitment service, headteacher coaching and headteacher performance management
• End to end management of statutory academisation process on behalf of the local authority

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

• Subject matter expertise and work related continuing professional development in your field developed through operational practice.
• A track record in rapid improvement in an educational context through developing people and capabilities.
• Credible ability to work across all educational phases and settings 0-19
• Extensive evidence of research-based learning and practice
• Demonstrable experience of working with internal and external partners interpreting and adapting position, policy, data
• Considerable operational and management experience
• Strong client management and project management skills
• Track record of operating complex projects and initiatives
• Expertise in analysing and interpreting data
• Experience of partnership working

The salary for the role is Grade 7, £50,144 per annum.
