As a result of the Education Redesign restructure a new and exciting development opportunity has been created for a Service Manager role within the Education Places Service.
We have one position available, this role can be offered at 37 hours per week.
This new role will report to the Head of Education Places and will be instrumental in revitalising Somerset’s strategic approach to the delivery of sufficient early years and school places over the next 5-10 years.
Here’s what you can expect to be doing
Refreshing data modelling systems in order to develop and maintain evidence-based strategies for the delivery of early years and school places for 70,000 pupils.
Working with key stakeholders, including Academy Trust Chief Executives, Head Teachers, Executive Members, senior managers within the Council, and other external partners and organisations.
Providing advice and guidance on key strategic decisions to ensure sufficiency related matters are considered and addressed in a compliant and timely manner.
Leading and developing a team of Education Places Officers and overseeing the delivery of a range of place planning activities, specifically:
A few things about you
First and foremost, you’ll be able to demonstrate a commitment to our four key values – Customer Focus, Can Do Attitude, Collaboration and Care and Respect.
You’ll also have experience of advising and guiding senior leaders and the ability to work across all phases of education, 0-19, based on strong sector knowledge.
In addition, you’ll have considerable leadership experience, a track record of strong client management and delivering continual service improvement.
Your eye for detail and ability to develop and analyse complex data model, alongside technical experts, will underpin the future strategies.
As an effective communicator, you’ll be able to lead challenging conversations, particularly in complex partnership situations.

The salary for the role is Soulbury EIP 7-10, ranging from £44,758 to £48,849 per annum.
