The Impact: The Associate Director will lead the Multi Asset Index Manager team responsible for the maintenance and coverage of S&P Dow Jones Multi Asset Indices globally
The Team / The Business: The candidate will be part of the Index Management & Production Group (IMPG) which is responsible for the maintenance and calculation of S&P Dow Jones Indices
What’s in it for you: A global role, with the opportunity to fully support the Global Fixed Income Index Management Group within IMPG. The Associate Director is not only responsible for all aspects of a limited group of indices for which is a subject matter expert and be an example and escalation point for more junior team members but, and most importantly, they will lead and oversee the team of Global Index Managers.
Responsibilities:
Manage Global Multi Asset Indices across asset classes and provide operational assessment for new indices
Oversee Multi Asset Index Production undertaken by the team of Index Managers. Ensure Index Production processes are streamlined and effective.
Work closely with S&P Dow Jones Indices technology group to further enhance our system capabilities by identifying (and by working as part of a team to correct) deficiencies in our work flow and quality control processes
Ensure high standards of quality are met. Lead the Index Management QA process to review any errors and enhance processes accordingly
Represent the team, and contribute with own ideas and feedback, in global meetings and conference calls impacting or involving Multi Asset Indices
Talent Management for Multi Asset Index Manager Employees, with responsibility for staff performance, development and recruitment
Ensure that relevant stakeholder needs are met at all stage of the index management process. Work closely with Client Coverage team to understand and respond to client needs as well. Work with Product teams to review/address operational issues
Be a subject matter expert and a point of escalation for analysts in dealing with all manner of issues arising from index production
Be able to train both new and existing employees in order to ensure best practices in index management
Lead and coordinate the effort of team in ad-hoc projects and company initiatives
Collaborate and coordinate with other Index Management teams across the Index management production groups to ensure production and index management processes are as efficient as possible.
Develop and maintain relationships with key members of other groups within S&P Dow Jones Indices and across other departments, particularly the technology group, in order to further enhance system capabilities and improve processes and work flows
Must be able to clearly communicate to a variety of both internal and external clients
Must be able to work with Index Committees and governance teams to serve as subject matter expert on indices managed by the team
Provide periodic updates to senior management on incidents an initiatives
Requirements:
5 years of relevant experience working with index products, or indices and index related data is required. Direct experience at an index provider and/or financial institution focused on tracking/replication or portfolio management is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree required. Advanced degree in finance, accounting, economics, math, statistics, or engineering strongly preferred
Strong understanding and expertise in global financial markets across Equities, Fixed Income, Commodities, Currencies, Options and Derivatives is required
Hands-on experience with collaborating with IT development teams
Excellent analytical and quantitative capabilities to solve original, non-routine problems in a timely and insightful manner
Strong verbal and written communications skills required to collaborate with various global teams
Must be able to manage multiple projects and deadlines. The projects involve requirements gathering, analytical thinking, compilation of data, and documentation
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, VBA, SQL, or Matlab is a requirement
Experience managing a team of analysts is a plus
Experience with dealing with vendor data and utilizing vendor data efficiently is a plus
MBA/CFA or progress toward CFA a plus
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $120,000 – $150,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
