Overview

We are seeking a Junior Python Developer to join our Team in North Bethesda, MD.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the design, build and implementation of IT systems.
• Work with scientists and laboratory personnel to understand their business processes and generate bug free software code to enhance end-user experience
• Responsible for understanding business needs and analyzing, validating and documenting the business and system requirements to best address the business need.
• Work in an Agile environment with various support team(s) to test, deploy and support ongoing maintenance of software code.
• Act as an expert technical resource to software development staff in all phases of the development and implementation process

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 2 years of related Python software development experience in mid to large teams.
• Understand the basics of APIs, including how to make HTTP requests, handle responses (usually in JSON or XML formats), and authenticate using API keys or tokens.
• Familiarity with the HTTP protocol and understanding the principles of RESTful APIs. HTTP methods like GET, POST, PUT, and DELETE.
• Experience with testing, debugging and documentation.
• Experience with data manipulation, security awareness, and version control.
• High level of attention to detail.
• SQL Database experience.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Django or Flask
• Experience with PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Experience with Node.js
• Experience with Socrata
• Javascript front-end Frameworks experience like React or Angular
• Data Visualization tools experience, like D3.
• Biology, chemistry, bioinformatics focused background is highly preferred
• Experience in fast changing Research focused environments
