Spot Gloss Media is looking for an entry-level Editorial Assistant to support our editorial team in all aspects of book development, from conception to finished books. The ideal candidate will be a bright, quick-thinking, adaptable hard worker with a keen eye for content and stellar writing ability. This is a fully-remote position that requires a high degree of independence in completing tasks. The Editorial Assistant reports to the Editorial Director.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Editorial Assistant supports our team of four editors on all aspects of book development, including, but not limited to:
·     Concept generation and researching new ideas, with an emphasis on data analysis and trendspotting
·     Completing tip sheets for new books
·     Writing back cover copy
·     Writing advertising copy for digital marketing assets
·     Researching and writing tasks as assigned by individual editors
·     Maintaining the various databases and project management software we use to track our projects
·     Communicating title, schedule, and other changes to our client publishers and making sure all details for each title are up-to-date
·     Managing the social media accounts across all of our brands, updating the various websites each season, and other digital marketing tasks as required

·     Intense attention to detail and borderline obsession with accuracy
·     Positive, upbeat, can-do attitude that leads to initiative and a growth mindset
·     Entrepreneurial, creative spirit that is always on the lookout for new ideas
·     Very strong writing and editing skills
·     Ability to work independently while still knowing when to seek help
·     Affinity for technology and experience using AI to simplify tasks
·     Deeply online with an ability to spot trends in social media early enough so they can be applied to book publishing
·     Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a writing-intensive field
