Basic Function

Provides assistance with article development and processing for one or more specific therapeutic or specialist areas, and ad hoc support, as assigned, across the Adis journals portfolio

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Assist with the peer review process of invited/submitted articles across therapeutic/specialist areas as required.

Tasks include

• Identifying potential peer reviewers and sending invitations in Editorial Manager
• identifying when further reviewers are required
• identifying when an article is ready for a first decision and notifying the Editor
• Assistance with other article development and processing tasks as required
• Review of page proofs from Production
• Identification of additional author options for invited articles
• Development of new proposals for invited articles
• Development of Detailed Project Briefs for Adis Reviews
• Correspondence associated with article development.
• Provides support across all Adis Journals as required, and performs related duties as assigned by the Editorial Director and/or Manager.
• Project management assistance as and when required

Essential

Job Qualifications

Tertiary qualification in medicine, pharmacy, or life sciences or other relevant discipline, or equivalent.

Any of the following would be beneficial to this role:

• Experience in an Adis Editorial Department or previous STM publishing experience
• Previous experience in a medical-related, pharmaceutical sciences or life sciences role
• Specialist knowledge of technical/scientific issues in at least one therapeutic area or discipline
• Ability to understand and assess medical/scientific/technical information
• An understanding of the Journal publication process
• Awareness of the pharmaceutical industry, and the interests of Springer Healthcare Business Unit in this industry

Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Or Certifications

• Ability to critically analyse, synthesise and evaluate data, and present complex information clearly
• Ability to identify and maximise commercial opportunities while meeting editorial requirements. Self-motivated/organised/conscientious/flexible/deadline orientated.
• Strong collaborative focus with ability to develop effective working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders (including other Adis journal Editors, Editorial Assistants, Springer production staff, Editorial Boards and other external thought leaders etc.).
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Technical accuracy.
• Good customer service ethic.
• Computer literacy/electronic database familiarity.

Travel Requirements

May be required to attend occasional international conferences in relevant therapeutic or specialist area.
