We are looking to appoint an exceptional person to join the Centre for Clinical Education as Head of Academic Primary Care at Reader/Professorial level. This is a critically important leadership role for the MBBS programme for St George’s University of London. It involves leadership of the team who are responsible for the delivery of placements for medical students over a wide geographical area and collaborative working with our partner programmes. The role includes oversight responsibility of primary care attachments for physician associates and other allied health professionals. We would like to hear from candidates who have experience of team leadership and have a track record of supervising students and organization of the delivery of clinical placements. Management of the new tariff funding arrangements will be the responsibility of the post-holder.
The post holder will hold a current, full GMC registration and must have completed specialist qualification MRCGP as well as having an educational qualification and a track record of publication and supporting the scholarship activity of others.
The main focus of the role will be on leadership and delivering an outstanding student experience in primary care education whilst also developing a supportive network of GP tutors and other key external relationships.
The week is expected to be broken down with 5 sessions per week Leadership responsibilities (840 hours) and 1 session per week for CPD scholarship and academic generic responsibilities including teaching, personal tutoring, Multiple Mini Interview, assessment contribution and research supervision (168 hours).
Although this is a teaching-focused position, maintenance of research activity is encouraged and supported.
