Social Care Worker – Abhainn Edenmore (ASD specific) Day Services

35 hours per week – Permanent Contracts.

St. Michael’s House is a community based organisation committed to providing a quality person centred service. We are looking for highly motivated, confident and skilled professionals with experience in the area of autism, challenging behaviour and community integration and supports.

Vacancies now exist for Social Care Workers and Autism Support Workers on full-time Permanent contracts in Day Services to support individualised services in Dublin.

These positions will provide exciting opportunities for the successful candidate to develop their career by providing personal support services for adults with Autism.

The core values of this service will be person centeredness, community inclusion and active participation with a strong emphasis on quality. Your role will involve supporting and promoting each individual’s independence as well as enhancing their personal capacities.

The successful candidates will assist in supporting individuals to develop and maintain their connections to other people and strengthen links to the local community

Driving is a key duty and will be looked on favourably at application stage.

Key duties associated with the role:

• Support each person to effectively communicate and to ensure they make informed decisions, exercise choice, control and autonomy in their life.

• Contribute to and monitor outcomes for the person as identified in the personal planning processes.

• Identify supports and work in partnership with the individual, their family and other supports as outlined within individual plans

• Work with Positive Behavioural Support plans providing consistent and skilled responses to behaviours that challenge

Essential Criteria for Applicants:

• Previous experience of supporting individuals presenting with Autism

• Experience of promoting community inclusion and active participation.

• Experience providing individuals with positive behaviour supports

• Experience working with families, clinicians and other networks of support

• Possess excellent communication skills

• Have experience of implementing positive behaviour support programmes.

• Have experience of a key working role, focusing on promoting independence and community integration.

Essential Qualification required for Social Care Workers

Hold one of the HSE approved qualification- see below if you don’t hold 1 of the below you will not be shortlisted. The successful Social Care Worker candidates must have the following

Qualifications required

• QQI Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Applied Social Studies (Disability) – Open Training College;

• Level 7 award in Social Care/Studies delivered by an Institute of Technology, TUD or National University of Ireland;

• A qualification received outside the State recognised by NARIC as equivalent to the Irish Level 7 award.

Salary Scale – Social Care Workers: Successful candidates will be paid in line with October 2021 HSE revised consolidated Social Care Worker pay scale point 1; €33,630 – point 14; €48,465 per annum based on working a 35 hour week. Should you have no prior public sector experience you will be placed on point 1 of the pay-scale above.
