Administrative Assistant/ Engineering Assistant

Pay: $20hr.

Hours: Monday- Friday 7:30AM-4:30PM

Job Type: Temp-Hire or Direct Hire

Job Description:

Makes both electronic and hard copy reproductions of drawings, calculations, and other documents for issue internally or to customer. Accurately creates hardcopy drawing sets according to the IDIRR; including specific attachments as required and distributes within engineering for distribution. Files drawings and other documents. Assembly of Code Data Books to be sent to customers. Scanning and archiving of engineering job files. Moves drawings and other documents to outside storage. Orders drafting and engineering supplies as needed. Assists in maintaining the copy machine in the Engineering department. (Mechanical maintenance and cleaning of the copy machines is performed by an outside contractor.) Prepares documents using a computer. Adapts promptly to new computer programs and database systems.

TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, AND DEVICES USED: The Engineering Assistant must be fully trained in the operation of a copier and scanner. The Engineering Assistant must be fully trained in the operation of a personal computer with strength in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software programs. Although most of the typing will be performed using a computer, hand-written work is required. The Engineering Assistant must be proficient and competent in operating the main phone and intercom system. The Engineering Assistant must be capable of performing all basic office functions using typical office tools. The Engineering Assistant must be competent in the filing and n aming structure on a computer and hardcopy filing. The primary work environment for the Engineering Assistant is in the office. The employee should not be required in the shop area except under unusual circumstances. Since employee safety is of the highest priority, all employees must wear safety glasses or goggles when in the shop.

EDUCATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS: A high school level of education is required for this position. While some college or vocational/technical training in computers or work processing is of benefit, it is not required.
