Standard Chartered Hiring For Associate Director Structured Solutions Development at Singapore Full Time

The Structured Solutions Development team (SSD) is the Industries team within TB Trade and Working capital. The industry lead will be responsible to drive revenue growth and control risks across clients in the specific industry verticals across SCB. While flow transaction will be executed by RM and sales teams, bespoke transactions will be executed by SSD transactors in the relevant jurisdiction.

The industry leads are known for their expertise in their chosen industry sectors and delivering best in class solutions for clients in that space. The transactors engage at a deal level for origination / structuring and execution of bespoke transactions, for our client base using a range of products within SCB and from external. The transactor support in a region is a critical role for a region and the person helps in ensuring all the aspects linked to connecting the external world to the bank processes at origination, structuring, negotiation, approval, delivery, and ongoing monitoring stage. This person will also be responsible to support the wider team (industry heads/ global head) in ensuring the right MIS / pipeline and pitches are in place.

Solutions Development & Delivery

• This transactor support role plays a key role in leveraging experience of executing structured trade/structured finance/bespoke transactions.
• Engages effectively with the client once a structure is identified for negotiating terms, engaging with legal and compliance teams to flesh out the term sheets, documents, PSRs, BCA etc.
• Produces high quality analysis of the industry and business and the related processes related to a client by engagement with the client, researching on available data/information sources, competition, etc.
• Deals of the following nature are typical of an SSD engagement:
  • bespoke sell down/insurance/club deal/Syndications/ ECA arrangements
  • structured e-commerce / market place solutions
  • Bespoke or Complex RS, BBTL, syndicated/distributed VPP and pre-payment structures, EPC financing, long tenor deals
  • Deals which recommend an SSD involvement as per a product program or deal review guidelines
  • Complex trade solutions supporting sophisticated client structures such as required for the technology, telecom sectors, Trading Centres, and Shared Service Centres
  • For complex situations, structure and implementation of bespoke trade-based financing spanning multiple product programs that will meet client’s trade financing needs.
  • Solutions may involve specific tailored third-party partnerships (both SCB and client arranged/appointed 3rd Party)

Financial Management – Product P/L Management

• Support the transactor in meeting the budgets:
• Revenue (existing and new revenue streams) [FY 2022 $.. M]
• Penetration of the product: No. of clients using the products in country
• Returns (i.e. product profitability) [ROE / RORWA] at a deal or client level.

Market Management & Commercialization

• Produces high quality communication materials to explain transactions to replicate
• Makes high quality pitches for clients, awards and internal presentations

Processes & Implementation

• Works effectively with the relevant implementation, RSM, IMO, CTMU, Loans and Agency, operations teams to ensure successful and smooth delivery of solutions
• Where relevant provide critical feedback to the relevant teams and conducting post implementation review analysis through client feedback and incorporates good practices in subsequent implementations
• Able to work with lending banks in a syndicated transaction and communicate effectively
• Can project manage a deal and ensure all deal team members are aware of responsibilities. Escalate to the transactors when these seem slipping
• Ensure MIS on revenues, portfolio and risk parameters are maintained up to date.

Risk Management

• Is quickly able to grasp legal aspects linked to an instrument, debt, security in the relevant jurisdictions; local regulations and initiatives of local industry bodies to stay ahead of the regulatory change agenda in context of the transactions being worked upon solutions.
• Ensures adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations
• Ensure high quality Deal Review / BCA / Term sheet / Pre-Screening review / Credit memos
• Actively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk and compliance matters for the region, in a timely manner .

Governance

• Ensure timely, accurate and transparent renewal of facilities of clients.
• Ensures all actions relating to operational, credit, regulatory, legal, fraud and risks in a transaction or a process is acted upon in a timely manner.
• Ensures the relevant approvals (including compliance with relevant deal review guidelines) for a transaction or client engagement are sought and can be produced for an audit review at any point in time
• Ensure compliance, AML and FCC risk and applies appropriate risk mitigation processes.
