Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Correctional Lieutenant III and/or Correctional Housing Unit Manager at a multi custody female correctional facility, this position provides first line supervision to Correctional Officer III’s. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Â

• Assigning lower level custody staff and overseeing Correctional Officer activities and performance.
• Arranging work schedule rules to ensure staff coverage.
• Implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to NC DAC policy and procedures.
• Giving direction during drills, searches, and emergencies.
• Referring offenders to Restrictive Housing for temporary assignment.
• Leading staff in carrying out tactical assignment(s).
• Responding to emergency situations, searches for escaped offenders, and transports offenders.
• Conducting and/or supervising searches of offenders, their living quarters, and work areas for contraband.
• Investigating and taking action when appropriate regarding security issues, incidents, disputes, and complaints.
• Preparing and reviewing a variety of reports.
• Completing annual performance evaluations and assisting in assessing, evaluating, and implementing employee discipline.
• Conducting staff briefing sessions.
• Performing other related duties as necessary.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range will be $39,671 – $69,426.Â

The salary grade for this position is NC09 (Salary Range: $39,671 – $69,426). State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

About Anson Correctional Institution

Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Necessary Special Qualifications:Â Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
