Overview

The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA) is responsible for administering the Vermont Medicaid health insurance program and Vermont’s state-based exchange for health insurance, also referred to as the health insurance marketplace. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-organized and detail-oriented second- or third-year law student interested in working as a Legal Intern/Extern for the DVHA General Counsel for the spring semester 2023. The ideal candidate would be an individual passionate about public service with an interest in learning more about transactional law, health law, and contracts in the public service arena. You would be responsible for projects as assigned by the General Counsel, to include job shadowing, administrative rules review, legal research, and observing at legislative committee hearings (as needed). This is a paid internship or an externship for academic credit, if permitted by your law school. Work can be performed in a remote or hybrid environment, with some work hours to be performed in our offices in the Waterbury State Office Complex.
