Overview
The Market Conduct Analyst performs technical and analytical work in support of the Insurance Division’s Market Regulation Section. The Market Regulation Section uses investigations and examinations to assess how well the insurance marketplace as a whole, and the individual companies and producers that make up the market, are complying with Vermont’s insurance laws and regulations. Interaction occurs on a regular basis with insurance industry compliance officers, the Insurance Division’s Consumer Service Section and insurance regulators in other states. The position is supervised by the Director of Market Regulation and work is performed under the general direction and guidance of the Market Regulation Section’s two senior examiners. The Market Regulation Team fosters a collaborative and positive work environment. The successful candidate must have the ability to: sort and analyze complex statistical data, develop recommendations based on the data, and present the information in written and oral reports; learn and apply Vermont insurance statutes and regulations; manage multiple complex projects; and work effectively in a team environment. Strong communication skills are required.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed largely in a standard office setting, but with predictable need for some field travel. Private means of transportation must be available for in-state travel. The work of the Market Regulation Section sometimes results in findings that insurance companies have failed to comply with their consumer protection obligations under Vermont law, resulting in disagreements and complex negotiations with insurer analysts, actuaries, executives and/or attorneys. The nature of duties may require performance outside of normal work hours.
