Opened in January of 1940, Winter Park Resort is the oldest continuously operating resort in the United States. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Summer Operations Outdoor Adventure Supervisor coordinates and supervises the daily operations of Winter Park Resort’s summer activities and guided tours. Making plans, setting schedules, and organizing staff to achieve operational goals. They are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all summer activities and will oversee a large team of staff to ensure a memorable experience for our guests. They will demonstrate exceptional leadership and guest service skills, and consistently display safe and ethical work practices. The Summer Operations Outdoor Adventure Supervisor will be part of a dynamic team, creating unique mountain experiences for employees and guests.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Supervise and organize staff each day by assigning work duties to crew leads and crew members, scheduling breaks and rotations as appropriate, and quickly adapting to changing operating conditions (visitor count, weather, special events).
Provide feedback and coaching to crew lead and crew members– with approval of the Summer Operations Manager, may apply progressive disciplinary action as appropriate.
Coordinate with the Summer Operations Manager to supervise various activities, guided tours, and experiences.
Assist in first aid when needed.
Handle guest complaints/feedback, and work with Guest Services department to action service recovery where necessary.
Oversee radio communications within team and with other departments to ensure good communication regarding opening/closing of activities and guided tours.
Assist in developing policy and procedures for the summer activities, summer tour and guide functions.
Assume other responsibilities as directed by Summer Operations Manager.
Train, mentor, and coach staff members in how to operate all summer activities, and guided tours.
Demonstrate leadership by example and maintain good guest/employee relations.
Assist in building, maintaining, and disassembling summer activities, to create a safe working environment for summer employees, as well as guests.
Responsible for conducting a daily operation meeting with all crew members as well as attending various operational meetings.
Serve as backup in the absence of Summer Operations Activities Manager with recruiting and timekeeping procedures.
Ensure that employees are following summer activity procedures, as well as resort policies (such as Uniforms and Appearance Policy).
Monitor weather and make decisions as to when activities or tours need to be closed due to inclement weather.
Create the weekly schedule.
Complete End of the Season Evaluations for all crew leads and crew members.
Coordinate team-building and recognition activities with the team.
Assist the Risk Management department in affirming that incident reporting is complete and accurate.
Other Duties
Assist in developing policy and procedures for summer operations activities, tours, and experiences.
Assist in the preparation and maintenance of job descriptions.
Participate in long range planning for summer activities.
Assume other responsibilities as directed by Summer Operations Activities Manager and/or Director.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Mountain Environment:
The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc…
The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 60 pounds throughout the day is common.
Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting. UV radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting. Noise generated by lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
