These opportunities don’t come around often! You will be part of a team leading and assisting the management of the design delivery. As Design Coordinator, you will assist the Design Manager in the provision of a completed design which satisfies the client brief and achieves building consent. On a project as complex as this, you will need to be adaptable and ready to think outside the box.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and control the delivery of project design to ensure the achievement of quality, completion and project objectives.
• Manage design consultants to ensure the design deliverables prepared by the consultants meet the clients brief.
• Ensure that the design deliverables prepared by the consultants comply with legislative and authority requirements including Certification/Occupation documentation.
• Select and engage, then monitor the performance of external design partners within the discipline including their deliverables, costs and timeframes.
• Managing the design works including liaison with the cost planners to ensure that the design deliverables meet the cost plan constraints for each trade package.
• Manage the design approval process in accordance with project and program requirements.
• Prepare budgets and schedules of design delivery for management approval, manage and report cost of design delivery throughout the project life cycle.
• Manage design to ensure the cost of the works meets project requirements.

About you:

• Have 3-5 years’ experience in technical roles on significant projects, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
• Can confidently build rapport and relationships with key stakeholders and adapt your approach as required.
• You will demonstrate commercial and contractual awareness in dealing with clients and external design partners.
• Experienced in interpretation and application of contracts.
• Knowledge of consents, inspections, safety and environmental processes.
• Experience with BIM modelling, including Revit.
• Can foster the interaction between design and construction teams to maximize innovation and project success.
