The Quality Engineer holds a crucial position, primarily because of the strict quality requirements set by customers. This role directly reports to the Quality Manager and encompasses diverse responsibilities spanning various disciplines. Effective communication skills, technical expertise, and exceptional time management and organizational abilities are indispensable for this position.
Compensation: $40 an hour for this contract to hire position
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: In addition to the tasks mentioned below, other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Collaborate with customers, sales, engineering, and manufacturing to understand and fulfill customer-specific quality requirements.
Act as the primary quality contact for new product development and product launches.
Conduct initial inspections for new articles.
Coordinate with customers for source inspection of prepared products and documents.
Review x-ray parts for quality assurance.
Develop test standards.
Perform and document results of life testing.
Ensure engineering change orders comply with quality requirements.
Perform and document all required self-release activities.
Conduct final pre-cap inspections.
Maintain adherence to quality requirements for military standards.
Participate in material review boards when necessary.
Prepare and provide reports as needed.
Manage quality documentation.
Utilize FBS tools to drive quality improvements.
Handle internal and external corrective actions using the 8D process.
Analyze internal reject trends and follow up on improvement opportunities.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant technical AS degree, preferably in electrical disciplines.
Familiarity with ISO9001 and AS9100 Quality System requirements.
Experience working in a quality role within a manufacturing environment.
Desired experience in electronics, electrical, or electromechanical manufacturing.
Proficiency in problem-solving tools and methodologies.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
Ability to solve practical and complex problems, dealing with various concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists. Capable of interpreting instructions presented in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
